Series 5 Generative Artificial Intelligence
Series 5 Generative Artificial Intelligence
The 5th series of 'Maddie is Online' has been funded by Responsible AI UK. The project was conducted in collaboration with CILIPS (Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals in Scotland) and three School librarians as partners, and aims to explore the responsible use of Generative AI among secondary school students (12 and 13 years old).
As part of the series a video cartoon story was developed together with an open educational toolkit with resources to enhance GenAI literacy.
The project engages students in discussions about GenAI ethics, bias, transparency, and information literacy. The main features of the project include:
Co-Creation of Educational Materials: Developing cartoon-based learning resources, which feature student voices and experiences.
Toolkit for Educators: Creating an open-access educational toolkit with lesson plans and activities to support responsible GenAI use in schools or at home.
Workshops & Public Engagement: Hosting events to showcase findings and promote AI literacy among educators, young people and parents.
A video testimonial of young people's experiences can be found here:
