Libraries Are Essential CILIP Campaign

 #LibrariesAreEssential CILIP Campaign

This week 'Maddie is Online' contributed to the CILIP (Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals) Campaign #LibrariesAreEssential with the hashtag #LibrariesAreEssential to Young People’s Digital Literacy. The blog post on '‘Maddie is Online’: A video cartoon open-access resource on information and digital literacy available for schools' that supports the campaign can be found via: #LibrariesAreEssential to Young People's Digital Literacy - CILIPS. The post offered a current overview of the project and the link to the recording of a live session on the project, which took place earlier this month, and attracted 133 registered participants (teachers, librarians, policy makers and other experts). The recording is available here.

This week we also made many new connections with organisations working in the domain of information, digital and media literacy, including Mesomorphic. In addition, we attended an excellent session, the 3rd MIL Webinar, part of EKOME MIL Webinar Series “ Raising Media & Information Literacy Skills in the Mediterranean: Policies & Practices”, that took place on April, 6th, 2021.

The recorded webinar video can be found on YouTube by EKOME: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHv9BMdI6Ec The participants of that event shared a number of interesting projects such as the following:

About MIL - Infopirina: https://www.infopirina.org/

Getting Better Foundation film that can be used to teach awareness of media and information literacy and that points students to resources for fact-checking and responsible digital literacy: www.newday.com/film/trust-me

Finally, we made connections with two additional schools that would like to pilot the 'Maddie is Online' series.

So far it has been a very interesting week!
