New Blog Post by SLIC and MIL event
This week we had a new blog post on the project, published by the Scottish Library and Information Council. Please have a look and let us know what you think. You will be able to find some data from our study in schools together with an overview of the existing resources and the value of the work we have completed to-date. Here it is: Maddie Is Online (scottishlibraries.org).
“A look at the Media and Information Literacy
Alliance (MILA) and the ’Maddie is Online’ Digital Literacy project”
Friday, 29th October, 3pm UK time
Jacqueline Geekie (@Jacques97) will
present on the recently formed Media and Information Literacy Alliance (MILA),
which has been founded by a group of partners including Chartered Institute of
Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) and CILIP Information Literacy
Group (ILG). Jacqueline will also showcase the framework which has been
developed by members of the ILG group with 5 aspirations for people to be
empowered, informed, connected, healthier and socially conscious.
Dr Dina Martzoukou (@Dinamartz)
will present on the Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC) funded
project ‘Maddie is Online’ (@MaddiesOnline), which involved research on
children’s digital resilience in secondary schools in East Renfrewshire, with
the collaboration of school librarian Mr Ioannis Panayiotakis. As part of this
presentation, Dina will report on a number of interesting findings that have
emerged from this work, including young people’s feelings of being online,
which have now been brought to life using real children’s voices. Latest
