Ethical Hacking skills/careers talk with Cheryl Torano
Thank you to everyone who attended our online careers talk on
“Ethical Hacking skills/careers talk with Cheryl Torano” on 19th January 2023 (as part of our project funded by the Scottish Government and
supported by Digital Xtra Fund).
During
the session we explored online ethical aspects, getting inspiration from the
‘Maddie is Online’ stories that are currently developing in schools, as part of
our competition which sought creative teams from schools and selected 5 teams
to produce cartoon video stories on our new series. Our guest speaker, Cheryl
Torano, covered many different careers directions and it was also lovely to
meet one of the S2 classes that took part in our online session. We also shared
two important Scottish government reports the project aligns with:
- An
Ethical Digital Nation - A changing nation: how Scotland will thrive in a
digital world - gov.scot (www.gov.scot)
- Frameworks
and Concepts - Building trust in the digital era: achieving Scotland's
aspirations as an ethical digital nation - gov.scot (www.gov.scot)

our toolkits in the form of freely available eBooks that can be downloaded in

‘Maddie is Online’ is a community project created with the
contribution of young people, parents, library science students, new and
experienced library professionals and academic researchers, who all commit to
the idea of supporting young people’s development of information, digital and
media literacy. They have donated their time and talent to make this creative
work happen. If you are interested to take part and donate your voice to any
characters, please let us know (by emailing k.martzoukou@rgu.ac.uk). We are currently
developing cartoon stories in schools for series 4.
